Kryzhopil community
About
The Kryzhopil Community, led by Volodymyr Vasylyshen since the 2020 local elections, is one of the most promising communities in Tulchyn District, Vinnytsia Region. It boasts a well-developed agro-industrial sector, rich cultural heritage, and strong potential for socio-economic growth. Despite the challenges of the full-scale war, the community adapts to changing conditions by efficiently utilizing its resources to support steady development.
As of early 2025, the community is home to over 18,000 residents, including nearly 1,700 internally displaced persons. Key areas of focus include agriculture, healthcare, support for small and medium-sized businesses, and assistance to veterans and displaced individuals. The community prioritizes creating comfortable living conditions in every village, engaging residents in decision-making, and fostering unity and cooperation between local authorities and the public.
Natural Resources
The Kryzhopil Community is located in the southwestern part of Vinnytsia Region, within the Podillia and Dniester Highlands. The area features gently rolling terrain, a moderately continental climate with warm summers and humid winters, and fertile soils (including podzolized chernozems and forest soils). Annual precipitation ranges from 590 to 650 mm, while average temperatures vary from -10°C in January to +28°C in July.
Due to its favorable geographic location, the community has strong potential for industrial development, improved living standards, and balanced socio-economic growth. The rational use of natural resources, labor, and scientific-technical capacity enables sustainable development and prosperity in each settlement within the community.
Positioning
The Kryzhopil community, located in a safe rear area, actively supports internally displaced families, especially those with children, and provides comprehensive assistance to veterans and their families. The community aims to establish a “Veterans’ Hub” – a center for social, psychological, and physical adaptation and reintegration, offering psychological and legal support, sports rehabilitation, and veteran-focused business incubators.
While the community has the capacity and willingness to finance priority projects, it seeks strategic partners to implement key initiatives. These include completing the construction of solar power stations to ensure uninterrupted operation of critical infrastructure and acquiring transport for people with disabilities and limited mobility. Kryzhopil welcomes cooperation with foreign investors to enhance the community’s resilience during martial law and the post-war recovery phase.
Geography & Logistics
The Kryzhopil Community is located in the southwestern part of Vinnytsia Region and includes 19 settlements, with the urban-type settlement of Kryzhopil serving as its administrative center. The name "Kryzhopil" derives from its geographical position on a watershed ridge between the Southern Bug and Dniester river basins. The community's development is historically linked to the construction of the Kyiv–Odesa railway in 1866, which significantly enhanced the area’s transportation and logistical accessibility.
The community borders six neighboring communities and is part of Tulchyn District. Its total area is 420.52 km². The distance to the regional center, Vinnytsia, is 121 km, and to the district center, Tulchyn, is 49 km. Thanks to its strategic location and well-connected settlements, the community benefits from favorable logistical advantages that support economic development and investment potential.
Local Business
Kryzhopil community has a strong economic foundation, centered around the agro-industrial complex, as well as processing, food, forestry, and energy industries. The main budget-generating enterprises include Kryzhopil Grain Elevator LLC, Podillia PC PJSC, Vinnytsia Industrial Group LLC, “Forests of Ukraine” branch, TERRAFUD branch, and the AVIS oil press plant. The community is home to over 110 farming enterprises, making it a regional leader in grain and sugar beet production, with great potential for expanding food processing and agricultural output.
Small and medium-sized businesses operate mainly in trade, services, and light manufacturing, with 110 new sole proprietors registered in 2024 alone. Local authorities actively support entrepreneurship, including financial grants for war veterans to start or grow businesses. The community is guided by principles of transparency, efficiency, and responsiveness to public needs, while investing in infrastructure to support local and relocated businesses and strengthen the regional economy overall.
