Mednytska Community

About

Medenychi Settlement Territorial Community is an administrative and territorial unit in Drohobych District of Lviv Oblast, established in June 2020 through the amalgamation of the Medenychi Settlement Council and nine village councils. The total area of the community is 296.2 km², with a population of over 18.8 thousand residents. The administrative center of the community is the urban-type settlement of Medenychi, located in the picturesque Pre-Carpathian region on both banks of the Letnianka River. The community supports the development of social, educational, and healthcare infrastructure, as well as local business, agriculture, and tourism.

Natural Resources

The territory of the community is situated in the Pre-Carpathian region with unique natural and climatic conditions that combine flat landscapes with foothill elevations. The area features fertile soils suitable for agricultural use and significant forest resources that are actively protected and used rationally. The Letnianka River and its tributaries provide the community with water resources. The natural beauty of the region, with coniferous and mixed forests, mountain rivers, and springs, contributes to the development of eco-tourism and recreation.

Positioning

The Medenychi community is located in a strategically advantageous area at the boundary between the Lviv Lowland and the Carpathian foothills, making it attractive for tourists and investments in recreation and leisure. Proximity to the regional center of Lviv (65 km) and convenient transport connections ensure easy access to infrastructure and development opportunities. The distance to the nearest EU border (Shehyni border crossing) is approximately 58 km, creating favorable conditions for the development of cross-border business and international trade.

Local Business

The economy is primarily based on agriculture, forestry, and tourism. Agricultural enterprises focus on growing various crops under Pre-Carpathian conditions, livestock breeding, and dairy production. Forestry activities use natural resources rationally, with an emphasis on environmental protection and sustainable development. The tourism sector is developing due to the region’s natural beauty, the hospitality traditions of local residents, and the availability of accommodation facilities. The community aims to develop green tourism, create new jobs in sectors related to environmental protection, and attract investment for the sustainable development of the local economy.
