Oleksandra Viter-Lyubevych

Mayor of Bukachivtsi

We are a young and ambitious community just beginning our journey. Our main goal is to bring real, positive changes to the lives of every resident, ensuring that our community is a comfortable place to live, work, and grow. We are genuinely committed to improving local well-being and learning to work effectively for the benefit of all.

The Bukachivtsi Community was established on December 23, 2018, as part of Ukraine's decentralization reform in accordance with the Law of Ukraine “On Voluntary Amalgamation of Territorial Communities.” It includes 13 settlements and is divided into four administrative districts. The key objective of the community’s development is to improve residents’ well-being, strengthen the local economy, and create conditions for sustainable growth. We have defined our strategic goals and strive for unity, transparency, and cooperation to build a strong and self-sufficient community capable of representing itself with dignity at both the national and international levels.

Bukachivska community

About

The Bukachivtsi Community is a vibrant rural community located between the Dniester and Svirzh rivers in the Ivano-Frankivsk region. Formed in 2018 during Ukraine’s decentralization reform, the community includes 13 settlements and covers 140.88 square kilometers, with a population of 4,136 people. The community’s economy is strongly focused on agriculture, with promising development in meat processing and cattle breeding. Bukachivtsi is positioning itself as a future national leader in sausage production, already operating 5 major workshops and numerous small-scale producers. With access to the renovated Lviv–Ivano-Frankivsk highway and the Bukachivtsi railway station, as well as proximity to Ivano-Frankivsk International Airport, the community offers logistical advantages for investment and tourism.

Additional highlights include rich natural resources (clay, forests, water bodies), historical sites, furniture and food production, active local businesses, and a growing tourism sector. Bukachivtsi is also known for its volunteer and cultural initiatives during the war, support for displaced people, and its community-led strategy for development through 2027, focusing on agriculture, tourism, infrastructure, and innovation.

Natural Resources

The Bukachivtsi Community is located in Ivano-Frankivsk Region and covers an area of 142.6 km². The territory is rich in natural resources including clay, sand, limestone, peat, manganese, strontium, sulfur, gypsum, shale gas, as well as water bodies (the Dniester and Svirzh rivers, ponds), forests, and recreational areas.

The climate is moderately continental, with mild winters and warm summers. The average annual temperature is +7.3 °C, and annual precipitation totals around 650 mm. The growing season lasts up to 220 days. Winds are mostly northwestern and southeastern, with an average speed of 2.9 m/s. The climate is favorable for agriculture, with no extreme droughts or temperature fluctuations.

Positioning

The Bukachivtsi community has 120.45 km of municipally owned roads, with most being gravel or dirt roads (88.75 km), and only 2.2 km paved. It is connected by road to major cities: Ivano-Frankivsk (62 km), Lviv (72 km), and Ternopil (74 km). The territory also includes a railway line with stations in Bukachivtsi and Cherniv.

The local economy is driven by agricultural enterprises such as "Zakhidnyi Lan", "TORO", and "Agroprodservis", along with meat producers like FOP Demkiv, FOP Kazymyrchuk. These businesses contribute to soil impact due to fertilizer and chemical use. The area includes forests and natural landscapes, though no confirmed data exists on endangered species. As of 2025, 50.5% of the working-age population is economically active.

Geography & Logistica

The Bukachivtsi Community was established on July 27, 2018, through the merger of the Bukachivtsi settlement council and several village councils. In 2020, additional councils joined the community. Today, it spans 142.6 km² and borders communities in both Ivano-Frankivsk and Lviv regions. The administrative center, Bukachivtsi, is located between the Dniester and Svirzh rivers, 62 km from Ivano-Frankivsk and 12 km from the Lviv–Ivano-Frankivsk highway.

The community is home to historical sites, including WWII-era underground bunkers and a 19th-century mill built with Austrian brick. The mill was converted from water-powered to steam, and later to electric, and was once a key regional producer of semolina flour used in traditional pastries.

Local Business

The community’s economy is primarily focused on agriculture and meat processing. Local farmers mainly grow wheat, soybeans, rapeseed, corn, and other crops. In terms of meat processing, producers operate under well-known brands such as “Demkiv – Bukachivski Kovbasy,” “Vyshnivski Kovbasy,” and others. There is also a company in the community that supplies top-quality meat products across Ukraine.

In addition to agriculture and meat processing, the community also has berry farming, particularly the cultivation of blueberries and strawberries, as well as cattle farms for raising livestock. Local farmers are actively engaged in expanding berry production.
