About

Drohobych Urban Territorial Community is an administrative and territorial unit in the Drohobych District of Lviv Oblast, established on June 12, 2020, through the amalgamation of the cities of Drohobych and Stebnyk and 20 village councils. The total area of the community is 420.7 km², and the population exceeds 122,000 residents. The administrative center of the community is the city of Drohobych, located within the historical region of Prykarpattia on the Tysmenytsia River, 86 km from the regional center of Lviv.

Natural Resources

The territory of the community is situated at the boundary between the Upper Dniester Plain and the Carpathian Foothills, an area characterized by diverse geological structure and rich natural resources. The rivers Tysmenytsia, Solonytsia, Bar, Brontsi, and other waterways flow through the community and belong to the Dniester River basin. The soils of the community are suitable for agricultural use, and the territory is rich in forest resources. Historically, the area was known as a center for oil extraction and processing, which has left a significant mark on the development of the local economy and industry.

Positioning

The Drohobych community is located in a strategically advantageous position that combines proximity to the European Union with a well-developed transport infrastructure. The distance to the nearest EU border crossing (Mostyska checkpoint) is approximately 71 km. The community has convenient access to the regional center of Lviv, international airports, and seaports, which contributes to the development of trade, logistics, and tourism businesses.

Geography & Logistics

The community is located in the central part of Prykarpattia and has a developed network of regional and local roads that connect it to Ukraine’s main transport corridors. The Lviv–Sambir railway line passes through the community, providing passenger and freight transportation. Key distances include: 86 km to Lviv, 625 km to Kyiv, 76 km to Lviv Airport, 130 km to Ivano-Frankivsk Airport, and 623 km to Boryspil Airport. The nearest seaports are Odesa (852 km), Chornomorsk (869 km), and Pivdennyi (890 km). The nearest railway stations are Truskavets (11 km), Stryi (30 km), and Skole (64 km).
