Mankivka community

About

The Mankivka Community was established in 2020. The total area of the community is 473.5 square kilometers, and it includes 19 settlements, with the urban-type settlement of Mankivka serving as the administrative center. The population of the community is 17,985 residents.

Located in central Ukraine, within the Uman Raion of Cherkasy Oblast, the Mankivka Community has a well-developed agro-industrial complex, construction sector, and service industry. The region is rich in deposits of high-quality kaolin clay, as well as red and grey granite. Mankivka stands as an important economic and tourism hub of the region — a place where tradition and modernity intertwine.

Natural Resources

The primary natural resource of the Mankivka Community is its fertile chernozem soils, which are ideally suited for growing grain crops, industrial crops (such as sunflower and rapeseed), vegetables, and more. A significant portion of the land is used for agricultural production, which is the main economic sector of the community. The area is rich in deposits of high-quality kaolin clay, as well as red and grey granite. The community also contains forested areas, including mixed and deciduous forests, which serve important ecological functions such as soil protection and biodiversity conservation, with limited use for economic activities. Common tree species include oak, hornbeam, maple, and linden, and the forests are home to berries, mushrooms, and medicinal plants.

Natural resources such as sand (for construction), clay (for brick production), and limestone may also be found within the community. However, industrial extraction is currently limited or absent, and these materials are primarily used locally. The Hirskyi Tikych River, a tributary of the Syniukha River, flows through the community. It serves as a source of water supply, irrigation, and microclimate regulation. In addition, ponds and reservoirs are used for fishing, irrigation, and recreational purposes.

Positioning

Distinctive features and advantages of the Mankivka Community begin with its strategic geographic location. Situated near transport corridors linking central Ukraine with the south and west, the community benefits from proximity to the international highway Kyiv–Odesa (M-05), providing favorable logistics for transportation and goods distribution. The region’s fertile chernozem soils are one of its key natural assets, supporting the active cultivation of grain and industrial crops (such as sunflower and rapeseed), as well as vegetables and fruits. There is strong potential for the development of organic farming and agro-processing, including milling, oil pressing, and fruit and vegetable processing enterprises. The community is well-positioned for agricultural exports and collaboration in the field of the green economy.

There are available land plots within the community, some of which are already partially connected to utilities. These sites are suitable for the development of logistics centers, food industry enterprises, and bioenergy projects (such as biogas plants using agricultural waste). Additional opportunities include: projects in alternative energy, afforestation and forest protection belts, water treatment infrastructure, the clean environment offers ideal conditions for the growth of eco-tourism and the formation of a green cluster within the framework of regional development.

Geography & Logistics

The Mankivka serves as the administrative center of the community. It is located in the western part of Cherkasy Oblast, within the Dnieper Upland, approximately 180 km southwest of the regional capital, Cherkasy, 4 km from the nearest railway station Potash, and 12 km from the Kyiv–Odesa (M-05) highway.

State roads pass through the community, including: T-24-11 Zvenyhorodka – Katerynopil – Talne – Mankivka, and T-24-06 /M-05/ – Mankivka – Ivanky – Buki. This transport accessibility ensures rapid connections to international markets and infrastructure, making the community attractive to investors seeking efficient growth and expansion opportunities.

Business Sector

Within the Mankivka Community, the agricultural sector is driven by enterprises of various ownership forms. The largest among them include: LLC “Kyschentsi”, village of Dobra – engaged in grain and industrial crop production, cattle breeding, and milk production; LLC “DUKRA Agro”, village of Rohy – focused on grain and industrial crop cultivation; Private Farm “Shevchenka”, village of Podibna – grain and industrial crops; LLC “Vidrodzhennia Kryvets”, village of Kryvets – grain and industrial crops; PE “Perlyna”, village of Molodetske – grain and industrial crops; Private Farm “Petrovit”, village of Popivka – grain and industrial crops, cattle breeding, milk production; Farm “Chervona Kalyna – S”, village of Nesterivka – grain and industrial crops; LLC “Krolikoff Plus”, village of Dzenzelivka – specializes in rabbit farming and product processing.

Agricultural production remains the economic foundation of the community's development. An equally important component of the local economy is small entrepreneurship. Individual entrepreneurs are active in sectors such as retail trade, transport services, passenger transportation, and household services. In recent years, the public catering sector has also been actively revived and expanded, contributing to the overall growth of the local economy.
