Slavska Community

About

The Slavska Settlement Territorial Community is an administrative-territorial unit in the Stryi District of Lviv Oblast, established in August 2017 through the merger of several settlement and village councils. The community covers an area of approximately 430 km² and has a population of over 14,000 residents. The administrative centre is the urban-type settlement of Slavske, which is famous for its ski resort and picturesque nature. The community ensures the development of social, educational, and medical infrastructure, while also supporting local businesses and tourism.

Natural Resources

The community’s territory is located in the Carpathian Mountains, providing unique natural and climatic conditions with vast forests, mountain rivers, and lakes. The area has fertile soils suitable for agricultural use and large reserves of forest resources that are actively protected and used rationally. A ski resort located in the mountains serves as an important tourist resource and stimulates the community’s economic development.

Positioning

The Slavska community is strategically located on the edge of the Carpathians, making it attractive to tourists and investors in recreation and leisure. The distance to the nearest EU border crossing (Medyka) is approximately 200 km. The community also has convenient access to the regional centre Lviv and other major cities in the region, which supports the development of trade and logistics.

Geography and Logistics

The community is situated in the central part of the Carpathians and has a well-developed road network connecting it to the region’s main transport routes. Distances: to Lviv — about 138 km to Kyiv — about 688 km to Lviv Airport — 146 km to Ivano-Frankivsk Airport — 112 km to Boryspil Airport — 676 km Nearest seaports: Odesa (774 km), Chornomorsk (780 km), and Pivdennyi (790 km). Nearest railway stations: Skole (26 km), Stryi (67 km).

Local Business

The economy is primarily based on tourism, agriculture, and forestry. The ski resort in the settlement of Slavske attracts visitors, boosting the service sector and hotel business. Agricultural enterprises grow produce adapted to mountain conditions. Forestry rationally utilises natural resources with a strong emphasis on ecological preservation. The community aims to develop green (eco) tourism and create new jobs in sectors related to environmental protection.
