Znamyanska community

About

The Znamianska community was established on June 12, 2020. It is located in the Kropyvnytskyi district of Kirovohrad region and covers an area of 112.6 square kilometers. The population amounts to 30,720 people, including 3,354 internally displaced persons. The administrative center of the community is the city of Znamianka, which holds the status of a city of regional significance.

The community maintains strong positions in Ukraine’s and the region’s socio-economic, educational, and cultural rankings. The economic potential is primarily based on railway enterprises as well as small and medium-sized businesses. A key priority for the community is ensuring the well-being of its residents and creating opportunities for development, education, leisure, and personal fulfillment.

Natural Resources

The territory of the Znamianska community is home to a deposit of mineral radon water. This resource is utilized by the municipal enterprise “Znamianska Regional Balneological Hospital” of the Kirovohrad Regional Council to provide treatment and rehabilitation services for patients with musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, and nervous system disorders, gastrointestinal and skin conditions, endocrine diseases, gynecological issues, and metabolic-related pathologies.

Based on the facilities of the municipal non-commercial enterprise “Znamianska City Hospital named after A.V. Lysenko” of the Znamianska City Council and the municipal enterprise “Znamianska Regional Balneological Hospital” of the Kirovohrad Regional Council, it is possible to provide comprehensive physical and psychological rehabilitation for war veterans, families of military personnel, volunteers actively working with veterans, and civilians affected by military actions in Ukraine. These services aim to strengthen emotional resilience and restore internal resources. The soils in the community are characterized by high fertility, with significant areas covered by chernozem (black soil). The community possesses agricultural lands, which account for 36% of its total area, forests covering 9.5% of the territory, and 14 bodies of water with a total water surface area of 164.1 hectares.

Position

The Kirovohrad region is an agricultural region and one of the leading areas in Ukraine for the cultivation of early grain crops and sunflower. Considering the well-developed transport infrastructure in the city of Znamianka, the territory of the community presents opportunities for establishing a logistics hub and an agro-processing enterprise. The community also has favorable conditions for the development of solar and wind energy, as there are suitable land plots available for the construction of solar power plants and the installation of wind turbines.

Geography & Logistics

The Znamianska community is located at the intersection of international and national highways. The international highway M-30 (Stryi – Izvaryne) and the national highway H-01 (Kyiv – Znamianka) pass through its territory. The community serves as a major railway junction in both Kirovohrad region and Ukraine, with key railway routes running through it. The Znamianka railway station accommodates daily stops for 45 high-speed trains and 4 Intercity trains.

Business Sector

The largest enterprises operating within the Znamianska community include: Znamianka Directorate of Railway Transport of the Odesa Railway, comprising 18 structural subdivisions; Agroprodukt LLC, specializing in biscuit production; Terrakond LLC, producing halva; Geoid LLC, engaged in the manufacturing of metal structures; Chornoliske State Forestry Enterprise, focused on reforestation and afforestation. The community is also home to the State Vocational Educational Institution "Znamianka Vocational Lyceum", which provides vocational training in the following sectors: public catering, construction, agriculture, and railway transport.
