Kodymska community

About Us

The Kodymska community was established in 2020. It is a relatively large community, having united almost the entire territory of the former Kodyma district. The community comprises 21 settlements, with the city of Kodyma—founded in 1754—serving as its administrative center. In 2025, the city will celebrate its 271st anniversary. The total population of the community exceeds 25,000 residents, including around 1,000 internally displaced persons. The total area of the community is 703 square kilometers.

One of the key advantages of the community is its strong labor force, with 16,400 working-age residents. The community also benefits from a well-developed agricultural sector, particularly in berry farming and horticulture. A notable feature of the local economy is the presence of a powerful export-oriented enterprise specializing in the production of concentrated fruit juices. These factors together make the Kodymska community a promising area for economic development and investment.

Natural Resources

The Kodymska community is located in the southeastern part of the Podillia Upland, on the border between the forest-steppe and steppe zones, in the valley of the Kodyma River, a tributary of the Southern Buh. This unique location provides favorable conditions for agriculture, industry, and tourism—the community’s priority economic sectors. Kodymska community is rich in mineral resources, including deposits of construction sand, limestone, and clay, which are fully suitable for the production of construction materials. The proven reserves of these minerals are sufficient to support industrial development and enterprise placement. The area also boasts numerous natural springs and artesian wells, offering high-quality mineral table water, with some sources comparable in composition to the renowned “Borjomi”.

The terrain consists of undulating steppe plains, cut by gullies and ravines. The dominant soils are chernozems, including: deep, medium-humus chernozems, typical low-humus and heavy loam varieties, deep, lightly eroded heavy loams, and heavily degraded, medium-eroded heavy loam soils. Agricultural land accounts for 75% of the total area, with 53,060.838 hectares dedicated to agriculture out of a total land area of 70,408 hectares. The community is also home to 10 small rivers and extensive forests, which cover more than 20% of the territory. The dominant tree species include oak, ash, acacia, and maple. The combination of forest areas, water bodies, and a rich historical and cultural heritage creates strong potential for the development of tourism, particularly eco-tourism. The natural beauty and clean environment attract both domestic and international visitors seeking sustainable and nature-based recreation.

Positioning

We position ourselves as a community with significant advantages and strong potential for business development, namely: the presence of a railway line that crosses the community’s territory, the availability of national-level highways, a strategic geographic location with access to the border with Moldova and a convenient logistics connection toward Vinnytsia and Kirovohrad regions, a well-developed agricultural sector, the presence of investment-attractive land plots, the appeal of the area for green tourism, the availability of natural resources such as water, land, forest areas, sand, clay, cut stone, and limestone, available free land plots for new business developments, the authority to manage land resources within the community, the presence of the Kodyma Specialized Branch of the Northern Center for Vocational Education (specializing in mechanical engineering, architecture, agronomy, transport technologies, and others), and the availability of a qualified labor force.

Geography & Logistics

The Kodymska community is situated in the northwesternmost part of the Odesa region and is part of the Podilskyi district. It borders the Baltska and Podilska communities within the Odesa region, and to the north, it adjoins the Vinnytsia region. The community is also located close to the border with the Republic of Moldova. Geographically, the area is characterized by a moderate continental climate, which is favorable for agricultural activities and comfortable living conditions.

Its strategic location, proximity to the Moldovan border, and logistical connectivity to Vinnytsia and Kirovohrad regions make the community promising for development, particularly in the areas of trade, logistics, and cross-border cooperation. The total road network within the community spans approximately 223 km, including two public roads of national importance with a combined length of about 75 km, and 148 km of local municipal roads. The presence of the Kodyma railway station further enhances the community’s transport accessibility and freight potential.

Local Businesses

There are 1,266 business entities currently operating in the territory of the Kodymska community, including 852 individual entrepreneurs and 414 legal entities. The agricultural sector is the most developed branch of the local economy. It includes 90 business entities, among them: 15 agricultural companies, 55 farming enterprises, 1 private company, 20 other entrepreneurial entities, and approximately 1,500 individual landowners engaged in private farming. The industrial base of the community consists of enterprises in the processing, mining, woodworking, food (including bakery production and concentrated fruit juice manufacturing), and light industries.

There are 10 key budget-generating enterprises, whose operations account for 45% of total revenues to the general fund of the municipal budget. These include: JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" (Ukrainian Railways), LLC "Yasni Zori", LLC "Hrabivskyi Limestone", LLC "Agrofirma Kodyma", LLC "Zernyatko-Pivden", Agro-Industrial Company "Mayak", Agro-Industrial Company "Lan", LLC "Ivashkivske". Additionally, the community has a well-developed micro-business sector and a vibrant retail trade network, which contribute to the local economy, provide employment, and support the development of entrepreneurship and consumer services.
