Volochysk community

About us

Volochysk Community is a modern self-governing entity in Western Ukraine that combines a rich historical heritage with dynamic economic development. The community is composed of Volochysk city and the surrounding villages. These form a united society with efficient infrastructure and modern institutions of education, healthcare, and culture.

Due to its advantageous geographical location and strong support for local businesses, Volochysk Community is becoming an attractive hub for investment and tourism. The community is oriented toward environmental sustainability, supports civic initiatives, and actively develops partnerships with other regions of Ukraine and Europe.

Natural Resources

Volochysk Community enjoys a strategically advantageous location within Khmelnytskyi Oblast, near the administrative border with Ternopil Oblast. This geographic position fosters the development of interregional cooperation, while the flat terrain and fertile soils create favorable conditions for agricultural activities, particularly in grain and industrial crop production.

The community’s developed logistics infrastructure includes an international railway line and major roadways that pass through Volochysk. This enables efficient transportation of goods, enhances the investment appeal of the area, and supports its integration into the broader European economic network.

Positioning

Volochysk Community is located in Western Ukraine, near the border with the European Union. It has direct access to international transport corridors. This makes it highly suitable for establishing efficient logistics networks, particularly attractive for foreign economic activity and export-oriented production.

In addition, the community is known for its favorable business climate, transparent governance, easy access to a skilled workforce, and the availability of land plots for investment projects. The local government actively supports partnership initiatives with international donors and foundations and creates a reliable environment for long-term business cooperation.

Geography & Logistics

Volochysk Community is located in the western part of Khmelnytskyi Oblast, at the intersection of key transportation routes. Its territory encompasses flatlands with fertile soils and a natural landscape well-suited for agriculture and infrastructure development. Proximity to the Zbruch River contributes to a favorable water balance and provides for the needs of the local agro-industrial sector.

The community possesses strong logistical potential: an international railway line that connects Ukraine with Europe passes through Volochysk, along with regional and national highways. The community has convenient access to major markets and serves transportation of goods. The community is a promising hub for investment in transport, logistics, and industry.

Specifics

One of the most distinctive characteristics of the Volochysk Community is its multinational historical heritage, shaped at the crossroads of Western Ukrainian and Central European cultures and traditions. The area has preserved architectural elements, cultural landmarks, and local customs that reflect a blend of Ukrainian, Polish, Jewish, and Austrian influences, creating a unique and authentic atmosphere throughout the region.

Another notable feature is the community’s active engagement in energy efficiency and environmental sustainability projects. Volochysk was among the first cities in the region to implement modernization of heating systems and street lighting using energy-efficient technologies. These initiatives not only reduce operational costs but also establish a model of sustainable development for other communities to follow.
